GLOBAL WARMING
GLOBAL WARMING
Global warming is a gradual increase in the earth's temperature generally due to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, CFCs, and other pollutants.
Global warming effects have highly been contributed to by mankind through:
1.Deforestation-this is the action of clearing a wide range of trees. When forests are cut down much of the stored carbon is again released into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide and thats how forest degradation contributes to global warming.
2.Using transport-most Lorrie's,ships, cars and planes run under fossils fuels and this makes them a major contributor of greenhouses gases that spoil the ozone layer.
3.Powering buildings-Globally, residential and commercial buildings consume over half of all electricity. As they continue to draw on coal, oil and natural gas for heating and cooling, they emit significant quantities of greenhouse gas emissions.
4.Generating power-Generating electricity and heat by burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas causes a large chunk of global emissions. Most electricity is still produced from fossil fuels; only about a quarter comes from wind, solar and other renewable sources, hence contributing to global warming.
5.Manufacturing goods-Industry and mining produce emissions, mostly from burning fossil fuels to produce energy for making things like cement, iron, steel, electronics, plastics, clothes and other goods.Gases that lead to deteroriation ozone
