WE ARE THE KENYA WE WANT
WE ARE THE KENYA WE WANT
Its evident you can't teach an old dog new tricks, and this applies in all aspects of life.
To many,Kenya is often portrayed as lawless, corrupt and violent country where crime is common in the capital city,Nairobi.
But dig beneath the earth surface and you'll find that Kenya is a beautiful and a very peaceful country just governed by the wrong individuals.
Why am I saying all this.......
We are amongst the few countries where the government does totally nothing when it comes to investing on the youths who are our future leaders. One will toil for three to four years in campus with the hope of being great in the future, only to come out to the hush world being slapped with reality .We live in a country where education is not the key to success but connections are,we've reached a point where we cannot strive for excellence you buy your way to it.
We live in an era where money talks and bullshit walks, bullshit to them is having a degree,a diploma or even a certificate, have I mentioned being skilled.....yet all this can get you nowhere in your own country,Kenya.
Its sad.....very sad for that matter.
Our youths are left with no options but venturing into theft and prostitution to make ends meet. And the police are finishing our sons and sickness is killing our daughters. But we can solve this if only our leaders chose to be selfless, just a little empathetic.
Lets look at the bigger picture...what if our government created a million jobs instead of the five million jobs they promised, which was an absurd manifesto, this would change a whole lot of lives,it would have impacted the economy in ways no one would imagine, the crime rates would decrease and more families would be stable. What if they only gave this youths a chance they worked for, let's take a case in point the media industry.....our news anchors have never changed we still have the same faces on the screens ten years down the line......were are this upcoming journalist suppose to work at or even gain experience from. Our certificates I've just become another decoration in the shelf of our non-paying achievements.
If only the government would create more programs that would get this jobless youths of the streets, and equip them with skills that would enable them make a living for themselves, skills like beauty and hairdressing to the girl child and more technical skills to our young men. Its disheartening that only NGO's do this for us,yet in our budget there's an amount allocated aside to aide the youth, we are governed by selfish thieves.
What if they truly brought about free education like they promised, this would lead to low numbers of school dropouts hence we'd bring forth an informed generation, and honestly can it get any better than that. Our youths are able, energetic, informed and ready to work, they just lack the opportunities in where they'd exercise all this.
Our youths are the future leaders and they are indeed the Kenya we want,if only our government took a turn. But will they ever? That's the big question.
